Tolls

New Orleans Parking Tips

Warning~New Orleans is notorious for booting vehicles like no other.  The city is also known for its expensive parking fines.  Be sure to follow the laws and regulations posted by the New Orleans Department of Public Works.   The rules can changed based on where you are in the city so be sure to read the signs carefully.  You can find more information on parking violations here.  

On-Street Parking

The hours of operation for parking meters are Monday-Saturday, from 8am - 6pm.  The city is in the process of replace all the meters in New Orleans.  This process will be completed by the end of 2014.  This new meters will be solar powered and include a touchscreen and instructions in four different languages.  The rates range from $1-$1.50 per hour.  Some meters are short-term (eg. 2 hour limit) while others allow you to park for longer periods of time.  The new meters accept coins, cash and debit/credit card payments.   

In addition to the new parking meters, New Orleans has also transitioned to a new “pay-by-phone” method for street parking payment.  This essentially allows you to register your vehicle online and allow you to use the Parkmobile app when you want to park and the fee will be added to your account.

Commercial Garages and Open Lot Parking
