New Orleans sure knows how to celebrate so Pride weekend in The Big Easy is bound to be a fun one! Since its first festival in 2012, New Orleans Pride Festival has tripled in size. Come out and be a part of the weekend Pride celebrations centered around the New Orleans LGBT community.
2015 NOLA Pride Information:
The celebrations start this Friday, June 19th at Harrah's Hotel and Cascino New Orleans, located at 228 Poydras Street. Head to Harrah's ballroom on Pride Friday from 8 to 11 PM to enjoy food, cash bar, and some great live entertainment. Get your tickets at NewOrleansFestival.com for $20. Pride Friday is open to everyone, but anyone 16 or young must be accompanied by an adult.
The Big Easy Buddies, a male vocal quartet, will be performing at Pride Friday. In addition, Ryan Sallans, a transgender man, is Pride Friday's keynote speaker. The LGBT rights advocate and author of memoir Second Son: Transitioning Towards My Destiny, Love and Life will be giving a speech you won't want to miss!
NOLA Pride continues in Washington Square Park for Pride Saturday. On June 20th, from 11 AM to 4 PM head to 700 Elysian Fields Avenue for a picnic-style celebration. Be sure to bring your blanket and chairs to enjoy Pride Saturday in the Park. There will be tons of live performers including Cardinal Sons and Eclipse Band.
There will also be over 50 vendors in Washington Square Park for food, drinks, and crafts. Be sure to bring cash since outside food and coolers are not permitted in the park on Pride Saturday.
Pride celebrations continue on Sunday, June 21st at The Bourbon Pub. Located at 801 Bourbon Street, the doors open at 3 PM for the Pride-T Party! There is a $10 cover for well drinks and draft beer. The Bourbon Pub is open 24 hours so the Pride celebrations can truly never end!
NOLA Pride Parade Information:
If there is one thing that New Orleans can do, it is how to put on a parade! Come out for the NOLA Pride Parade that kicks off at 7 PM on Saturday, June 20th. The parade begins in Duncan Plaza, at the intersection of Loyola Ave and Perdido Street, and heads through the French Quarter. The parade concludes in Washington Square Park.
